Tool Room Supervisor

Objective
Provide leadership and direction to toolroom personnel as needed. Responsibilities may include the hands-on repair of the tooling in production and/or during preventative maintenance. Perform all tasks requested by the Manager, and/or other management personnel. Position is directly responsible for managing the maintenance activities of personnel / contractors engaged in maintaining and repairing of tooling.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure all Safety Rules, policies, and regulations are being followed.
- Ensure escalation policies are followed.
- Manage personnel on All Shifts both on the Production floor and in the Tool Shop.
- Drive culture of sustainable repair with root cause corrective actions.
- Always keep work area clean and orderly adhering to all 5S standards.
- Provide training for the development of Tooling Technicians.
- Assist Manager in the evaluation performances of Team Leaders.
- Leads performance evaluations for technicians.
- Perform administrative documentation and evaluations for direct reports.
- Relay suggestions for improvement to your Supervisor/Manager.
- Maintain small repetitive usage tools and rigging in tooling area.
- Organize and maintain the storage in tool shop.
- Participate in shift changeover meetings.
- Participate in production overlap and production downtime meetings.
- Follow all PM’s in progress and keep documents updated.
- Keep tooling priority list updated.
- Assist Manager in building overtime work schedules.
- Ability to work overtime on short notice, including weekends.
- Support on call activities for non-production days as required.
- Assist in ordering supplies and/or materials needed for tool shop.
- Asist in maintaining the tooling machinery in the tool shop.
- Adhere to all quality measures.
- Participate in the TPM program as needed.
- Ability to operate all equipment safely in a manual state.
- Ability to operate in SAP environment to perform job tasks.
- Make sure all scheduled PM’s from the SAP system are completed in a timely manner.
- Asist in the SMED actions to improve die set timing.
Position Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience working with HPDC Casting Tooling
- 3+ years’ leadership experience
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints
- Knowledge of work order system, planning, scheduling and storeroom processes.
- Ability to multi-task and manage priorities
- Ability to accurately estimate labor hours, material requirement and skills needed to complete a job and must be able to visualize and communicate the execution of work
