Maintenance Superintendent

Objective
The purpose of the Maintenance Superintendent is to plan and oversee the work of the maintenance staff to ensure safe and efficient operations for the entire facility. The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for planning, directing and implementing maintenance strategies to provide for exceptional equipment availability, product quality and production throughput. The position is directly responsible for managing the activities of maintenance personnel and/or contractors engaged in maintaining and repairing machines and equipment.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversees all maintenance, facilities maintenance, and projects for the casting plant
- Oversee maintenance functions with a drive to eliminate repetitive issues by developing personnel and using metrics to help make decisions in a safe manner
- Responsible for the leadership and development of direct reports, supervisors, maintenance technicians, trainees, and or interns within their assigned department
- Responsible for the delegation of work assigned to maintenance department
- Minimize breakdowns or disruptions in the production processes by developing and adhering to a preventative maintenance and inspection list and schedule
- Investigate root causes of machine breakdowns and make recommendations for improvements, new equipment to reduce and eliminate future occurrences
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure proper functioning of equipment, and safety and environmental compliance.
- Develops new methods to optimize machinery and equipment to reduce operating costs
- Responsible for representing maintenance department at meetings
- Builds and maintains relationships with cross-departmental leadership and supports the overall needs of the business.
- Along with Human Resources, participate in the selection of hiring and give recommendations of releasing Maintenance associates and Supervisors; keep records of departmental activities, as required
Position Requirements
- Associate Degree (Technical) - Bachelor Degree preferred in technical capacity
- Must have strong Mechanical (preferred) and/or Electrical skill set
- Must have a minimum of three years’ experience with maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC equipment (mills and lathes) and controls, PLCs, electronics, NEC, electrical systems, hydraulics and pneumatics, lathes and mills, air compressors, electric substations.
- A minimum of five years’ experience within a heavy manufacturing environment
- Must have a minimum of three years’ experience in management
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- SAP experience preferred
- Ability to analyze and solve problems utilizing structured problem solving methodologies
- Supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing preferred
