Objective

Responsible for providing the Machining Engineering expertise to establish proper operation, maintenance, preventive maintenance, programming, and spare fixture engineering, for all plant production equipment as well as plant infrastructure and facilities.  This function also provides direct technical support for the production department to improve the overall performance of the production facility by: Developing technician effectiveness with on-the-job training, spare parts availability; implementing continual improvement projects, and supporting production.  In addition, the function provides project management for all product programs.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Proficient in all areas of the CNC and machining field, including but not limited to: PLC controllers and logic, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, servo drives, data acquisition programs, robots controls and troubleshooting, automation, HMI, sensing devices, CAD, and computer software.
  • Provides direct technical support to the Engineering and Maintenance Department to advance the performance of the production facility.
  • Use downtime and quality data and a solid analytical approach to develop and implement continual improvement.
  • Serves as the technical resource for the plant machining operation.
  • Develops and maintains plant and equipment spare parts, drawings, schematics, software programs, etc.
  • Manages projects with skill; meeting deadlines, milestones, budgets, and goals.
  • Supports plant-wide effort to implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), 5S, Kaizen activities, benchmarking, and best practice sharing.
  • Manage major capital equipment and tooling projects, relative to machining, cart washing, assembly, leak detection, gauging, automation & packaging to company standards that meet program timing plans.
  • Provide product design input to designers and feasibility assessments as related to good  manufacturing practices and robust product design.
  • Support Estimating department to define technical requirements to obtain an accurate tool quote and to assess feasibility.
  • Responsible for and authorized to ensure that the requirements of procedures, operational controls, work instructions, maintenance, training, and recordkeeping within assigned area(s) of responsibility are met in order to assure compliance with policy, legal and other requirements, and the ISO 14001 standard.  Additional responsibilities may be included in other EMS documentation.
  • Responsibilities for and authorized to ensure that product realization requirements, measurement, analysis and improvement are met in order to assure compliance with the quality policy and the ISO/TS 16949 Standard. Additional requirements may be included in the QMS documentation.

 

Position Requirements

  • Associate Degree (Technical) - Bachelor Degree preferred in technical capacity
  • Requires 5-7 years minimum of experience in a large manufacturing facility or has work for an automation/integrations company. 
  • Must be proficient in all areas of the machining and CNC field, including but not limited to: PLC controllers and logic, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics, electro-mechanical troubleshooting skills, servo drives, data acquisition programs, robots controls and troubleshooting, automation, controls, HMI, sensing devices, CAD, and computer software.
  • Good hands-on working knowledge
  • Understanding of ISO and QS standards. 
  • Allen Bradley (PLC 5, RS Logix 5000, Micro-Logix,), Siemens S7 Device net, Ethernet IP, Die Casting, CNC, Robotics, Fanuc Controls hardware, Cutting fluid technology, and/or hydraulic system experience is a Plus.
