Superintendent - Maintenance

Objective
Responsible for planning, developing, and coordinating the resources needed for the maintenance and repair of the production machinery, equipment, grounds and building to ensure availability, safety, and productivity that meet the needs of the organization while providing leadership to effectively manage and mentor plant technicians ensuring consistent and accurate decisions are made and holding them accountable for these decisions.
Main Responsibilities
- Oversees and evaluates the performance of shift supervisors and technicians.
- Responsible for correcting and monitoring all aspects of maintenance cited by government or other inspections.
- Improves operations by determining work priorities and scheduling repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment based on budgetary goals. • Works closely with Engineering to ensure the proper level of Maintenance support and communication concerning new equipment installations.
- Plans, implements, and monitors an effective preventive and predictive maintenance program with the technical assistance of the Engineering and Maintenance Planning Departments.
- Reviews and maintains (with Engineering assistance) all equipment specifications, operation manuals, procedures, and Master Equipment List.
- Prepares annual maintenance expense budget and manages expenses to comply with accepted budget on a monthly basis. Initiates corrective actions.
- Responsible for the training and development of subordinates.
- Oversees the process of modifying/retrofitting industrial equipment.
- Designs, implements, and modifies preventive maintenance programs by reviewing production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics; inspecting operating machines, equipment, and systems for conformance with operational standards.
- Work closely with safety to effectively plan for changes necessary to meet governmental and/or company safety compliance changes.
- Analyze and track equipment downtime and present monthly the plants downtime reports and improvement plans to management for review.
- Develops short and long-range operating objectives, organizational structure, and staffing requirements.
- Manages maintenance staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Ensures that training and development needs are identified, and programs initiated.
- Complies with and ensures that Company's principles, policies, and programs are consistently practiced.
Position Requirements
- BS Degree in Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years experience managing plant maintenance facilities or Ten (10) years of progressive management responsibility in a large industrial maintenance department with a minimum of a high school education.
- Design experience an asset.
- Allen Bradley (PLC 5, RS Logix 5000, slick 500 Control logix,), Siemens S7 Device net, Profibus, Ethernet IP, Die Casting, CNC, Robotics, and/or large hydraulic system experience is a Plus.
