Supplier Quality Engineer - Bloomfield IN

Objective
The Resident Supplier Quality Engineer will support Quality Assurance activities related to Supplier Management and the Nemak Quality Organization, including but not limited to, the preparation of action plans, inspection, and test plans, supplier evaluation, training, communication, supplier quality, and process improvements, and system analysis for continual improvement. Work with foundry personnel, customers, and supplier to track data, identify improvement projects and manage cross-functional implementation for improved performance.
Main Responsibilities
- Analyze quality of product incoming, in process and finished at the supplier plant in order to provide a continuous feedback to the foundry and allow preventative containment of any customer complaint, current or potential.
- Must prioritize multiple problems and report in a timely manner to Nemak.
- Reports to the foundry Quality Engineer with data concerning the supplier plant production and reject information with all pertinent information in the Nemak format
- Follow foundry RMA process for the handling of foundry and machine scrap, including disposition, marking and accounting for product.
- Reports status on tests, trials, and PSW / PPAP samples.
- Works with Supplier to reduce scrap cost using lean and problem solving tools.
- Ability to work with the supplier on 8D through proven problem solving techniques, both Nemak & OEM driven initiatives.
- Reporting of problem solving through OEM specific requirements (8D, Drill Deep & Wide, etc.).
- Review PPAP packages and provide approval for the plant.
- Report to customer in cases of urgent needs, organizing containment of defective parts, if necessary through the supervision of the foundry or contract personnel; initiate problem solving documentation if required, following up in the process of defining and implementing corrective actions also by traveling to the foundry.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, Engineering
- Computer literacy and Microsoft Office Applications experience
- At least 3 years’ experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Working knowledge of machining, gauging, and GD&T to address issues
- Knowledge of quality systems, terminology, and steps to execute with suppliers (QSB)
- Basic knowledge of casting processes or willingness to learn processes
- Must be familiar with ISO/TS (IATF) 16949 or related Quality Standard
