Project Buyer (M/F/D)

Purpose of the Position

As a member of interdisciplinary project teams, you will play a key role in customer projects from RFQ through design to series launch. You will be challenged as a generalist working at the interface between Sales, Engineering, Suppliers, and Plants—contributing significantly to winning projects and bringing forward-looking solutions, especially in the area of battery housings, to the road.

Your Responsibilities

  • In your assigned projects, you are responsible for the procurement of components and external services and contribute significantly to product and process development for assemblies.
  • Through professional cost evaluation management, you work closely with Cost Engineering in the RFQ phase to lay the foundation for successful acquisitions.
  • Supplier scouting and onboarding for new technologies are key success factors for building a sustainable supplier pool.
  • You bring the right suppliers on board for each project. Your ability to engage with suppliers’ process and technology experts ensures that our requirements are met.
  • Top quality, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery are your priorities. You analyze and challenge cost breakdowns and push suppliers early in the project phase to develop processes that best meet our needs.
  • Conducting negotiations in close collaboration with Category Purchasing is also part of your responsibilities.
  • Throughout all this, you keep an eye on all project-related activities, milestones, and deadlines.
  • Last but not least, optimizing internal procurement processes and tools is a continuous point on your agenda.

Your Profile

  • Ideally a degree in Industrial Engineering; alternatively a degree in Business Administration (with a strong technical understanding), Engineering (with solid business experience), or a technical background in manufacturing
  • Several years of experience in (project) purchasing or project management within the automotive sector
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes, quality systems such as ISO/TS16949, and cost engineering
  • Knowledge in structural components (e.g., extrusion, stamping) is a plus, but not a must
  • Strong process-oriented thinking and ability to quickly understand complex topics and focus on what matters most
  • Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and similar tools
  • Clear and persuasive communication skills; fluent in both English and German
  • Constructive team player—across hierarchies, locations, and departments
  • Self-starter with assertiveness and determination

We Offer

Nemak is committed to offering its employees a fair, equitable, and competitive compensation and benefits package, including:

  • Competitive salary
  • Capital-forming benefits
  • Life insurance
  • Free parking or a "Deutschland Ticket" (public transportation pass)
  • JobRad – a company bicycle leasing model
  • Flexible remote work options
  • Childcare allowance
