Logistics Purchasing Leader – North America
Objective
This position will support the development and implementation of the sourcing strategy for logistics service categories across North America (Mexico and the United States), ensuring operational continuity through the selection and management of competitive, reliable suppliers aligned with cost, service, quality, and sustainability objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Define and implement sourcing strategies for transportation, warehousing, customs brokerage, and logistics services.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, including RFI/RFQ/RFP processes, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
- Develop, evaluate, and manage logistics service providers to ensure optimal service, cost competitiveness, and operational performance.
- Manage the logistics procurement budget and identify cost-saving opportunities through route optimization, shipment consolidation, modal changes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor supplier performance through KPIs, service levels, cost metrics, and contractual compliance, implementing corrective actions and improvement plans as required.
- Ensure logistics coverage for operations in Mexico and the United States, including domestic transportation, imports, and exports.
- Coordinate with customs brokers and logistics providers to ensure compliance with trade regulations and proper administration of foreign trade documentation.
- Manage purchase orders related to logistics services and support new product launches and business growth initiatives.
- Lead and develop the Logistics Purchasing team, fostering collaboration with Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, and Foreign Trade functions.
Position Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, International Business, or related field.
- Experience: 7–10 years in Purchasing, Logistics, or Supply Chain.
- Skills: Leadership, negotiation, strategic thinking, project management, and supplier management.
- Tech Skills: SAP, TMS, Advanced Excel, Power BI, Strategic Sourcing, TCO, Incoterms, and Customs Processes.
- Proficient English required
