Metal Buyer
Objective
Manage raw material supply accounts within the Aluminum category (Primary, Industrial, Caribbean, Scrap, Alloys, Additives) with national and international suppliers, ensuring alignment with the Foundry Center requirements for aluminum supply to operational plants. This role will collaborate closely with the MP&L Manager MC and Plant Controller MC to achieve cost efficiency and optimal mix strategies. The scope includes negotiation, delivery to plant, and payment processing, while supporting quality resolution, audit requirements, weighing, logistics, delivery planning, and timely payments.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead price discussions and execute negotiation strategies.
- Support the efficiency of the melting plan in alignment with monthly objectives (CMO).
- Secure material aligned to purchase percentage vs index and monthly availability.
- Develop low-cost alternatives to implement changes and gain competitive advantage without compromising operations or performance.
- Collaborate with Logistics to optimize freight costs and ensure lowest total delivery cost.
- Identify and execute strategic spot purchases based on demand trends and risk evaluation.
- Oversee execution of aluminum sourcing strategy.
- Build long-term strategic supplier relationships for raw material supply to Foundry Center operations.
- Formulate contractual strategies based on market context to diversify price risks, prevent non-compliance, guarantee quality standards and delivery times, and maximize efficiency in agreements.
- Develop RFQs, analyze quotations, and manage contract reviews with Legal when applicable.
- Address escalations from suppliers or Foundry Center clients and ensure compliance with auditable requirements in the purchasing process.
Position Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
- Technical Competences: Proficiency in MS Office, SRM, SAP, negotiation tools, and knowledge of commodity markets.
- Skills: Strong negotiation and analytical skills, supplier relationship management, cost optimization, logistics coordination, and strategic sourcing.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in procurement or commodity management (preferably in metals or raw materials).
- Languages: Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
- Soft Competences: Effective communication, strategic thinking, problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork.
