Quality Control Head
Objective
Responsible for ensuring standardized quality assurance by verifying that the product meets established standards at any point in the production chain (core making, casting, machining, etc.), including Final Inspection and finished goods.
Responsible for maintaining and keeping current all assets used for quality control and quality assurance, ensuring compliance with established systems, including Inspection Lines, X-Ray equipment, CMMs, software and hardware, borescopes, ultrasonic equipment, and other related technologies.
Main Responsibilities
- Operate in alignment with standardized quality documentation at each workstation according to established procedures, including Work Instructions, defect visual aids, first-piece sample checklists, destructive testing reports, dimensional reports, metallurgical reports, and sand testing reports.
- Report quality defects and findings identified during the inspection process through operational review forums (scrap review, rapid response meetings, quality meetings, etc.), including the generation of PT-11 reports and defect tracking by workstation.
- Participate in customer complaint resolution activities, including 8D, 5W, 5D, and other problem-solving methodologies.
- Lead and perform inspection and product release procedures for incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods.
- Participate in documenting lessons learned from customer complaints and recurring process defects, as well as validating and coordinating the internal and external lessons learned process across the plant.
- Perform product inspections correctly to ensure compliance with customer shipment acceptance criteria and quality control requirements.
- Support internal and external audits and participate in customer visits and assessments.
- Participate in PPAP activities led by the Quality Engineer and support the generation of documentation and data required to meet customer-specific requirements, ensuring compliance with product specifications during both development and mature production phases.
- Ensure the proper deployment of redundant inspection stations for new program launches and products in crisis situations, at both casting and machining operations.
- Deploy and ensure the operation of quality alerts under the guidance of the Quality Engineer, while managing containment actions and the segregation/classification of OK and NOK inventory.
- Continuously challenge inspection systems and personnel through Red Rabbit exercises, conduct periodic attribute agreement and concordance studies, and validate the effectiveness of poka-yoke systems.
- Escalate quality issues and follow through on corrective actions by ensuring proper documentation, implementation, and resolution.
- Develop and continuously improve Final Inspection areas and other product verification stations.
- Develop and deploy Quality Control strategies for both new product launches and mature production programs.
