Objective

The Leader MRO Strategic Purchasing Buyer is responsible for overseeing all Nemak NAR sites and optimizing the purchasing activities related to Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) supplies. This role focuses on developing and executing strategic sourcing plans, managing supplier relationships, driving cost-saving initiatives, and ensuring the uninterrupted supply of critical materials for the organization. The Leader will also lead cross-functional teams, collaborating with internal stakeholders to meet business objectives while achieving optimal cost, quality, and service levels. 

 

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management:
    Develop and implement long-term sourcing strategies for MRO categories, including negotiation of contracts, supplier performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Cost Optimization:
    Identify and drive cost-saving opportunities by conducting market analysis, supplier benchmarking, and value engineering initiatives. Implement strategies to achieve annual savings targets.
  • Contract Negotiation:
    Lead complex negotiations for long-term agreements with key suppliers, ensuring competitive pricing, favorable terms, and supplier compliance with company standards.
  • Supplier Relationship Management (SRM):
    Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration to ensure high levels of service, innovation, and reliability. Manage supplier performance through regular reviews and KPIs
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Work closely with internal departments such as maintenance, engineering, operations, and finance to understand requirements, align on goals, and implement purchasing strategies that support operational efficiency.
  • Risk Management & Supply Continuity:
    Develop risk mitigation strategies for critical suppliers and categories, ensuring supply chain resilience and uninterrupted availability of MRO materials.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    Analyze procurement data to identify trends, assess supplier performance, and provide insights for decision-making. Regularly report on KPIs, cost savings, and other procurement metrics.
  • Compliance & Best Practices:
    Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, legal requirements, and industry standards. Stay up to date with market trends, best practices, and innovations in MRO procurement.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    Lead, mentor, and develop a team of MRO buyers or category managers. Promote a culture of high performance, continuous improvement, and professional growth.

 

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing, Business Administration, Engineering or similar
  • Indirect Materials procurement experience desired
  • 5+ years of strong experience in strategic sourcing, procurement and purchasing positions required
  • Soft skills: Problem Solving, Negotiation, Risk Management.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and procurement software.
  • Strong English written and verbal communication skills; Spanish language skills an asset
